They are thirteen brothers, the sons of Gryla and Leppalúða, who descend from the white mountains of December each year. The first Yule Lad arrives on December 12. It’s called Sheep Cote Clod, and it drinks sheep’s milk and can drink many liters at night. Farmers need to beware of this Yule Lad every Christmas.
Next is Gully Gawk coming from the mountains 13. December. He is very energetic, hides with cows and drinks hot milk from them. Then he sleeps in the outhouses and packs Christmas packs there for the children.
Stubby is the third of the Yule lads come on the night before the 14th of December every year.This short Yule Lad loves sweets, and he’s small and he’s smart. He doesn’t say no to pancakes with cream.
Spoon Licker comes early on the night before the 16th of December. Spoon Licker likes big spoons that have been covered in “Jólaköku” cake dough or cold rhubarb soup.
